The roots of the Elfun Greater Cincinnati trace back to the General Electric organization. The Elfun Society was founded in 1928 at Association Island on Lake Ontario near Henderson, N.Y., the society was named after a notable elm tree on the 65-acre island. Though the tree died in the 1970s, its legacy lives on through the elm tree logo still used by Elfun Greater Cincinnati and other chapters.
